These large (2m.5 x 1.2m approx.) cotton batik sarong are (mostly men's) attire of occasion, of ceremony, of status, or even of magical protective power. Dyes used -principally indigo and soga (brown), occasionally vegetal tannin for yellow tones. Soga fades faster than indigo, to a mouse grey.
