These large (2m.5. x 1.20m approx) cotton batik sarong are (mostly men's) attire of occasion, of ceremony, of status, or even of magical protective power. Dyes used principally indigo and soga (brown), occasionally vegetal tannin for yellow tones. Soga fades faster than the indigo, to a mouse grey.
